1: The hidden setup menu.

Go to the menu screen select set (or settings) and hold menu button for 10 seconds, when the hidden menu appears scroll down untill the perspective mode option is selectable.

2: In the arrow map pointing menu.

Select GPS-Navigation, then Map, then push right button, select Map Positioning and there select Perspective

Hope this helps
Thanks! Guess I should've searched the thread before I posted my question...Gonna go try it out on my car now!

^ he's right...

When I'm in my normal area I leave it in perspective, but if I'm out of town and I need street names I switch out of perspective...

Kind of a PITA, but not too bad, I don't go out of town much...

X3 E83ist ibus-based Mk4 nav system

X5 2008 is MOST-based nav system with iDrive

Totally different nav system, maps are not compatible between these cars.

X3 (MKIV etc) with screen (prof navi) or without screen (business navi) uses DVD "Navigation High"

iDrive cars uses DVD "Navigation Professional"

Not correct all the way.
New 7 series with i-drive uses high map as well
And there are 2 versions of nav and maps for rest of the i-drive cars
Profesional for Profesional nav and Buisiness for Business nav.
