Do you know or how can we know when updates are available to the Idrive system (Windows CE). My car being a 2006 is still under warrenty and the dealer did update it once but never told me what the revisions were. When I asked BMW for the revisions they were not aware of the revisions. How can I find when revisions come out.

The ability to display "Safety Cameras" is not a feature of the standard map disk or V31 software. To display safety cameras you need to modify the disk by adding the safety camera POI. May of the copied map DVD's contain speed camera data already, do a search and you will find all the information you need.

Hi limey, Welcome to the forum,
The speed (sorry safety) camera option for any of the BMW map discs are not an official BMW product and are a non BMW sanctioned modification to the map disc, these disc are modded by the discs owners or bought from places like eBay. Whoever told you that the cameras are an imbedded option the OEM map disc doesn’t know what they are talking about. There are a couple of threads that will explain how to add the cameras your self with a few simple tools, do a quick search. HTH

Hi Limey,
Yes indeed, 'safety' cameras are added to the map disc (as Richard and ccfj1 said) as points of interest (POI). If you obtain a map disc with them on, or add them yourself, you then switch them on via the POI selection menu, just as you would with petrol stations or car parks etc. There are a few members (incl me) who can point you in the direction of a very good map disc supplier who adds 'safety' cameras. They are definitely not embedded in the v31 upgrade. |

Hey guys, i am new to the Bimmer and Navigation in general. I have downloaded, un-rar'd the file, burned the .nrg file to a CD through imgburn at 1x (albeit in MODE1) and i am extremely timid to try to update the OS since i don't really want the blank screen of death.
My CD (which was named "NAV_SW") has several files and folders (table files, LST files and file folders). You guys think i'm on the right track? I would be going from a V24 straight to V31 on an MKIV. Again just a little timid. |
