will my modified v31 work on a MK3?

I made a copy of v31 and edited the splash screen and sky image. My neighbor has a 2001 e38 with factory widescreen and MK3 and wants me to update his firmware. Will my copy update his car? I have MK4 and it worked fine on mine, just wondering if the same disc will do MK3. And What about the splash screen? Will he get my modified splash screen?

this is my current map

and my current splash screen

i was just wondering how it would react with his MK3 if I attempt to load my firmware v31 on his car.

The last software ever released for the Mk3 was v3-1/63

Check what version he has loaded now in the Settings screen (top right)

V31 will update the software to 3-1/63 if he has an older version

Your modified splashscreen is for the Mk4, to change his Mk3 you need to modify the Mk3 OS - which you can do in the same way as you modified the Mk4 OS.
Remember that the CD MUST be in Mode2/Form1 and with minimum errors / maximum quality for the Mk3 to read and load the new SW

Where do I find the splash screen for MK3? In what folders?

He has a 2001 e38 with factory MK3 that has never been upgraded. I think it is 3-1/22 or something. Don't remember the numbers but it is old...

Software upgrade is HUGELY worthwhile. It makes ther Mk3 MUCH better.

Do a standard upgrade first before you change splash screens etc.

Make SURE the OS disc is Mode2/Form1 otherwise you will crash the Mk3. Take all the usual precautions with upgrading: make sure battery is good, leave ign on at all times, don't interrupt the process etc.

Hello everybody (I'm from the German e39 Board)

I have the same question. Does the V31 have any effect on the MK3 (maybe Birdview or other colors?) or does it make the MK3 just faster?
@kiwi jochen
qwhat do you mean exactely with much better?

04SSHD stated he had 3-1/22

So for him the upgrade to 3-1/63 will make a huge difference.

If you already have 3-1/63 then there are no more upgrades available for the Mk3.
You already have the last and best version available.

Jochen

04SSHD if you enter that disk into an MK3, it´ll get stuck there... it can ruin the MK3
