16:9 Green Screen

Hi,

I've noticed my 16:9 factory fitted comms screen seems to be lacking colour depth. It almost has a green tinge/hue.

When tv selected when car driving I used the backround to message screen is very pale in colour almost grey and no longer blue, Red lettering is there.

Map on full and split modes and other display seems faimter & lacks color definition.

Mk3 original unit that came with my eraly 02 car and on SW 1/63.

18 mths ago someone tried to update me to v28 using a copy disc he had & telling me it would allow perspective but I since found out he knew very little and learned early on in ownership a Mk4 is req'd. I had a falt battery some about a year ago and after jump started I noticed it went back to SW 1/63which indicates v22 or above I think. I must emphasise I have not had colour issues before - first noticed 3 weeks ago then seemed ok - now have it again. Tried ejecting and reloading cd in nav - no difference.

Anyway main issue is screen has lack of definition and green hue.

I dont have a navcoder or boot disc.

Have been searching on here for last hour- no joy.

Planning to make a phone call tomorrow but thoughts appreciated

screen is made of 3 x colours: red, green and blue.

Look for items of each colour and see if they are displayed properly. Sounds like red and green is OK, but you may be lacking blue.

So check the wiring and connector on the nav to make sur eit is seated firmly, look for a fault on the blue signal wire.

I also have a screen colour problem. Instead of the blue background everything is a muddy greeny brown. It seemed likely that it was missing a colour input. Can anyone suggest where the disconnection is likely to have occurred? Is there a known location where the connectors tend to come loose? Behind the screen, in the rear by the TV and/or nav module?

It could be as in connectors (tv-module, monitor) as the cable could be damaged as well....... mostly it happens in connectors, check them first

Scratches head !

Mine nice and blue again now - though not banking on it being ok forever.

Ken I agree seems a bit vague...........maybe connectors on back of 16:9 screen unit are whats being referred to as guess.

I have technology that misbehaves !

Ha, mine has returned to blue again for a couple of days now, but I also am not banking on it staying that way.

I suspect the connectors to the video/TV module in the trunk, but I haven't got around to fiddling with anything yet. Need to do it step by step to find out which connector is playing up and then posting that info here so others can shorten the fault finding process - unless anyone can suggest which connector caused THEIR problem and so provide the short cut for OUR problem?

If no TV fitted:

All video signals are on the blue plug of the nav computer and go direct to the display.

If TV fitted:

Video signals go from blue plug of nav to white plug of video module.
then the video signals continue on the blue plug of TV module direct to the display.

Has anyone else come up with a solution to this issue? Is it a matter of the whole screen bring bad? I'm having the same problem.

Thanks in advance!
