Yes, identical. The Mk4 and TV Tuner Blue connectors are cabled exactly the same way.

After checking the TV sound, did you actually remove the blue plug from the TV tuner and connect it to the nav? That's the best way to check if the problem lies in the nav or in the wiring to the nav

Yes, using NavSpeak.
You can play back all words and phrases on your PC

BUT: this doesn't prove if that part of the nav OS disc is scratched or poorly burnt, because PC CD drives are more sensitive that the nav CD drive, and thus will mask a poor nav OS disc.
To confirm disc quality, compare the disc contents to the image file - make sure it is identical. And then do a disc scan, surface check, and error check.

The Mk4 does not have "V29" loaded. It will have 4-1/91 loaded.
V29 refers to the version of the nav OS CD, not the version of the nav software.
A V29 OS CD contains 7 different versions of nav OS for 7 different nav generations.
Current Mk4 software is 4-1/100, which can be found on V31 or V32 OS CDs.

Look in your Settings screen on the nav, top right hand side of screen. That shows the current loaded version.

Sure, it is possible the audio output stage is faulty. But this is very rare.
