Exclamation navigation software

hey ppl,

ok, i need some information about this, today, i have been with a friend who own a 325 2006 Model, i was shocked some how, his navigation software is completely differnt then my X5 2003 . I have the V31 firmware customized for sure, but his software is completely different. Now my questions are,
1- Does any one have the BMW X% Software not, firmware upgrade,
2- Does the 325 2006 Software ever tried to run on the X5 Navigation system.
3- Can the 325 2006 software be customized to fit the 2003 X5 nav.
as far as i know, the new softwares, are designed to fit the new car design which comes with a small round ball becide the handbrake for easy use, but if some one has the softwares then i can edit it to fit our X5 nav hardware system .
please advice.

You are talking about the MOST bus I-drive cars. New X5 is the e70 all the new ones are CCC I think except for the e65/66 which is a different MOST bus system. The othere are the e60/63/90 etc. Very different.

Wel it depends what one considers firmware and what software.....
In my mind firmware is non user interface, but function part of an update.
Software is user interface update.
If you put it that way, then V31 (10.0) is going to update your firmware, since it is goingt to alow you to use DVD/DL disks, you wont se any Software change, so no software updates on this one. I belive that i was V27 that gave slightly diferent menus, that i would call software update.

On cars with i-Drive the software/firmware is updated ONLY by the BMW diagnostics system

The whole vehicle must have a certain software version for proper inter-operability, and all modules in the vehicle are checked by the diagnostic computer and updated if required.

This can only be done by the BMW system, and only at the dealer.
