Just wanted to finish my install

After fitting my MkIV nav computer, just to add 100% accuracy I want to run the speed and reverse signals.

What pin on the BM54 on my 2003 car will I pick the speed signal from?

Will it already have a wire on it?

I am happy enough tapping into the reverse wire.

And what pins do they have to run to on the burgandy plug on the MkIV?

Thanks

Terry

PS Is there anywhere on line thats good to buy the parts from?

What car do you have?

Do you an E39 with EDC (electronic damper control)
If so, the better wheel speed pulse signal is available at the EDC control unit

If you have an X5, then the wheel speed signal and reverse signal will be on the auxilliary wire harness plug, which is located close to the nav unit in the trunk, left hand side.

My car is a 2003 E46 M3. I thought the speed pulse is available at the back of the BM54?

can you post more info and pictures when this install is done? I have an `03 ZHP with factory navigation and I'd love to have a back-up camera as our garage is a little tight and I back-in on my side. The tennis-ball works to tell me where to stop, but the camera would be extra protection should someone leave something in the way that I don't see, especially at night...

Thanks...

Davidf has done a BMW backup camera without the video module and has posted it to bimmerboard.com. Check either nav forum or e38 forum or both.

That's the averaged TAA speedo pulse

If you want super accurate dead reckoning, you want the wheel speed pulse from one of the wheels, available at the ABS unit. These are instantaeneous and non-averaged, have quicker reaction to true vehicle speed.

Look at the WDS to see where the wheel speed pulses for the factory-fitted nav come from.
