V26

Let me know if you struggle getting V26. I know a few people at dealerships who can help you out.

Just got V12 of the Australian Nav Discs from them today.

Wow this is exciting news. I was thinking last week how much I'd love a new NAv system in the X!

From a post on BMW Car Mag Forum about whether the V26 updated can be applied to the MkIII nav drive:
A word of warning guys do not try to load v.26 to mk3 it will fry in under 2 mins flat.

Back to questions: not quite 3d, but very crisp new colours much more detail, ie both names of A & B roads golf courses bridges etc. no more blue cicrle in the middle of map of your vehicle its white now with a little tail and the whole map in the background rotates on a pivot like your spinning around a globe!! Crisp and exciting with removable icons of weather reports etc. processor speed seems to be faster too, but maybe as i have changed from cd post code disks and was using BMW DVD for test purposes MK4 responded faster. Definately worth havng as new image is much sharper too.

I have a feeling v26.1 won't be far behind which carries a bug fix prventing system failure in MK3, especially if you have the early mk3 with hard ware 1.1 these units switch off at the slightest detection of macron imperpefection or voltage drop!! be warned, the later mk3 with hard ware 1.2 may stand the shock of v.26 but in all said this software upgrade is for MK4 ONLY Why mention MK3 you may ask well some people aren't quite sure what they got or may just be curious as we all know... but this is a DVD upgrade only!!
Like many others, I am still trying to get my hands on V26. Once I do I will certainly do my best to help the X3world/X5world members with getting it as well

Good News and Bad News....

Good News
- I upgraded my car at the dealer today, for free. I spent the 5 minutes educating the dealer on the system! He'd never heard about such an upgrade until I called.
- It looks fantastic!
- Car icon stays in the centre and the map rotates around it (in 'Direction of Travel' view). Not quite as fast as the new iDrive cars but pretty damn good.

Bad News
- He wouldn't let me copy the disc, so I am unable to upload it... sorry.

One thing he mentioned to me during the process was that apparently version 27 has been released as well. They didn't have the version 27 disc but the Service Manager swears that it has been released.

I'll post a series of before and after pictures as well as a more formal summary shortly...

Stay tuned!

Here are some before and after images. They speak for themselves really.

Sorry for the poor quality JPGs but the files have to be less than 100Kb each.

I'm off to work now so I'll post a summary of changes when I can - may be in the next day or two - I'm on-call tonight.
