FINALLY won an ebay auction for a 16:9 screen!

Too bad I had to get it from a seller in LITHUANIA. $567.00! Take that, you bitches who kept nickel and diming me!

My bad for the senseless post, I have no one else to share the joy with right now, people.

Anyone want a 4:3 unit, cheap?

JV

Congrats, JV. Be sure you protect yourself in case the seller doesn't ship or the item isn't as represented in the auction description. And let me know if you have any questions on the retrofit. It's been a while since I did mine, but I'm sure it'll come back to me.

The guy has a 99.2% positive feedback rating and PayPal is accepted, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've made a dry run on your swap from 4:3 to 16:9, I'm hoping it'll go smooth, but I may indeed need to PM you a few times, so thanks for the offer of your time, Jeff!

My experience with PayPal is that you are only completely protected if you use a credit card as your method of payment. That way you can use your rights through the credit card company to challenge things if they don't work out as expected.

Be sure to take before and after pics

Hey UcrewX5
that's not the case, when you use paypal and a credit card; "Paypal" in the eyes of your credit card company; constitutes as a third party charging service to whom you authorized to use your card . it happened to me and my credit card told me just like that, their words were, "did you allow paypal to issue this charge against your card?" and when I said yes they told me I have to get a credit from Paypal cause it was a legit charge.

I think the simple explanation was, you transfer money from your credit card to paypal, then from paypal to the seller, if you would transfer the credit card money over to the seller directly then you would have protection. Since the credit card has not dealt with the seller directly then they cannot go after him/her for their money back.

Would that be the same seller from Lithuania that sold 16:9 monitors with 1 day auctions on the german ebay? Every day he sold a monitor. The next day there was another aution for another monitor. Where does he get all these monitors from? Do you have a link to the auction, or a name? Kinda interests me cause it looks strange.

naviandbmwparts was the seller. I have no clue where they get them from, probably don't want to know, either.

My personal experience runs contrary to yours. Perhaps it's differences in the policies of various credit card issuers. I can only state that I've never been burned when using a credit card and it certainly gave me much more leverage when dealing with PayPal. If you use a PayPal balance or allow PayPal to do a deduction from your bank account then you have zero leverage with PayPal.

No, it's not the seller I was keeping an eye on.
Many cars are stolen in Europe and they are usually shipped to Poland and from there on further to other eastern European countries.
It is indeed better not to wonder where all these parts are comming from.
Looking at the number of BMW parts for sale in Lithuania, I would say they've got lots of BMW's over there!

My future in-laws are Polish, I've heard the same thing. The way the economy is in PL though, the only thing an American can save decent $$ on is hand-made goods. The 'black market' in PL is thriving.
