Arrow Help on nav system for neewbie

Gentlemen, I have just today bought an x5 3 litred diesel sport (reg 2002). The dealer advertised it as having sat nav but when I checked the screen out (it has a tv on the console that works etc), I noticed there was no sat nav menu. I checked in the boot/trunk and noticed that the only unit sitting there was the dc multichanger. Can I buy a unit? And if so, what unit should I buy, how do I fit it etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A good starting point is checking the Articles and posts here, (Do a "search", or look under "Navigation" on Home page ) both for the install, and best places to get parts - here's an example to check out:

thanks MauiKat - I have the screen (the tv is fitted) but just need to know what I need to install the sat nav aspect (eg computer, cables, disks, etc)

realoem.com will usually provide you with part numbers if your local dealer is not helpful. Have your VIN handy.

If it was advertsed as having Sat Nav then you should go back to the dealer and request that they install it or pay you the cost of getting it installed. They are required to provide what they have advertised by law.

I concure, you have a contract that states it has sat nav, they can't just say "sorry we didn't know what we were looking at"

You're looking at the thick end of £600-£800.

Do you have the original advert as proof.
