X5's from model year 2003 through 2006 came with the Mk4. A Mk3 will work, but I would really recommend you get the Mk4 - especially if the item is being covered by your insurance. You shouldn't put in something less than what your vehicle came with.

That part number doesn't show up on realoem. Here is a link to the nav details - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...97&hg=65&fg=50

I am unable to cross reference the part number you provided, so I can't tell exactly what the unit is. If it is a MK3 or Mk4 for an i-bus based vehicle with color 16:9 nav screen then it will work.

That is a good P/N. It is the very newest one. I have posted lists of the MKIV P/Ns on the bimmerboard.com nav forum in the past. There are 4 newer numbers than the ones I have posted there and this is the newest. There are a total of 24 MKIV P/Ns in existance.

The newest numbers are 65 90 9 176 685 and 686. There are 20 other numbers on my bimmerboard.com Nav forum posts 445,620 of 25 Nov. 2007 and 217,370 (linked to the later post) of 26 June 2006. I have seen 2 other numbers on the ETK but they have not been verified as real.
