Jochen,
I just programmed a friend's MKIV drive using NavCoder 2.7.25. He bought his unit off ebay, and it came in a non-English language.

I believe that i coded it correctly to USA mode, however the units are still showing up in yards, not feet. There is also a grayed out screen for "Traffic Information." Any ideas?

Thanks!
Steve

Does anyone know if there's a way to change the date format?
In Australia we user 12h format with dd/mm/yyyy, but that combination is not available.

Can this be programed with Navcoder?
A modified OS?

I asked that question both of my dealer and Jochen and it is not possible. As I run split screen I leave it on 12 hr as it blocks out the date anyway. It would be nice to change it though.

I believe your nav has a modified custom OS loaded, because it only shows 2 languages

Please recode the nav for 3 languages, and make sure that they are 3 x different languages

Then also reload the OS at the same time, to make the nav standard

Then you'll be able to set US mode properly.

Thanks.. I have a legit BMW v.32 upgrade CD I bought from the dealer. I initially coded the Nav for US (male), US (female) and GB (female). That got the MKIV out of the non-English language, but seemed to put it in that custom language, so I recoded it to just US (female) and US (male). Do those count as the same language? If so, you're saying I simply can recode to US (female), French, Spanish, let it reload the languages off the upgrade CD, then that will overwrite the custom OS? I don't need to downgrade the OS first or anything, do I?

Thanks!

Not a good idea to code multiple instances of the same language, the nav was never designed to do that. It can confuse it. It cannot properly distinguish between US and US :-)

Also, the male voice for the nav stopped getting updated many versions ago, and is "officially" not supported.

I recommend fitting US, ES, and a third (non-US, non-ES) language of your choice.

If you have the standard OS, then the recoding of the languages will only cause loading of the required voice files; the entire OS will not be re-loaded (because it doesn't need to be)

Thanks Jochen, any issues having US and UK on there at the same time? Would be nice to toggle between the US and UK accents. =)

Also, if there is a custom OS loaded onto my MKIV and I want to set it back to stock, how would I go about doing a full overwrite of the system software? Simply install an older OS, then install from v.32 CD to overwrite it? If thats the case, do you know the part # for the v.29.1 or v.30 CD? I can't seem to find the part number (I prefer not to use burnt discs in my MKIVs).

Thanks!

Just put an OEM OS cd in (v30, then back to v31/v32).
