Help with GPS?
my satnav stopped tracking properly and currently has me somewhere in essex about 25 miles away! and there are no "Green dots" in the window in the top R corner I updated the OS, and tried disconnecting the -ve battery lead without joy. The service menu says GPS status: Reception interf and also ANT OPEN But the GPS tracking screen shows 8 sats all with signal > 2 ??? Is this a broken antennae?? but why is it still picking up sats on the service screen?? I haven't taken anything apart yet, and was thinking about touching the +ve and -ve battery leads together and resetting the whole car! before pulling the satnav unit out and trying a different antenna? Does anyone have any other ideas? Cheers David |

You have a bad antenna or a broken antenna cable. Double-check the antenna connection on the back of the MKIV. If that looks OK, then you will probably need to buy a cable or antenna. I would buy the antenna cable first, since that is cheaper and you can directly run it to the antenna. If that does not fix it, then buy a new antenna.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with the GPS in my 2002 BMW 530D. Did you ever resolve this and if so how?
