Question Navcoder Timeout

Need some help !

I've build the simple interface and tried to code my mk4 but it keeps giving a timeout. I tried setting the time-out to higher values (2000) but doesn't help.

- I observe a continual stream of Ibus traffic on NavCoder, and can see the commands being sent on the log window.
When scanning I most often get only a list of Devices that did not respond....
but sometimes I get a "Device found and are communicating", but it allways tells me that "No ideentification data available for this device"

- E46 Touring -04 Mk 4/1-91
- Navcoder 2.0.17 and 2.5.22
(unreg. for the time beeing, but the scan results is the same - and I'll be happy to reg. if I can get it to work).
- Ibus, V+, Earth - taken from the CD Changer.
- XP pro

I've checked my hardware and connections several times.

The Log can look like this:
21.09.2008 18:41:14: NavCoder started
21.09.2008 18:43:47: Read TV settings - Error when reading TV settings: Timeout (no response)
21.09.2008 18:44:07: Read Nav Settings - Error when reading current nav settings: Timeout (no response)

Any hints would be greatly appriciated !!

Regards
husvik

I kept getting time out messages and changed the Comm.
I registered the product before I used it as I know then I will get support.
I connected the Resler IBUS Interface first, then to the laptop
Checked the Laptop identified the USB Device and was ready to work
Then opened Navcoder.
At first I got a timeout message but tried the different port options

This may help?

Generally timeout means that the data is corrupt due to a poor ground (or the interface isn't working .-)

Post a more complete log of the messages that you see and I can tell you if the data is normal or not

Thumbs up Navcoder Timeout - OK

Thank you Jochen !!!

As you suggested, the CD player connection didn't provide a good ground.
Changed ground-connection to the chassis of the car, and
voilą NavCoder performed like a dream.

Tanks for the good support !
Cheers
