I did the upgrade while cleaning up some of the wiring for my stereo project. Went exactly as described and it rocks!
Since I have successfully completed the upgrade, I have the CD that I'm willing to ship to someone who doesn't have the time/patience/resources to download it. Send me a PM if interested.

Cool Upgrade Success

This was one of these easiest upgrades! Took under 2 hours to download the image files, about 15 minutes to burn the CD and under 2 minutes to upgrade the OS. And so far based on the improved graphics it appears to be a worthwhile upgrade.

BTW - I have a 2005 4.4i Sport with Nav, DSP and adjustable ride height.

Thanks to X5world and all the members that made this possible.

Cheers!

P.S. - I wish someone would do the same for the Navteq 2005.2 DVD!

Help!, My attempt left the Nav non operable...

Followed directions to the letter, TugZip, Alcohol 120%, etc. When the disc was loaded and the software uploading, the system read "error on disc, press OK to acknowledge and remove" Afterwards the Nav screen is just blank/black. 24hours no different. Reburned CD and tried, nothing happens. Today purchased new discs and reburned; no difference. Nav does not boot up when the key is turned to 1 (or 2 for that matter) and when installing the disc, nothing happens.

Is there anyway to restart the software upload or is taking the car to the dealer the only option at this point.

I have read others who have had problems and reported that they just uploaded the previous version and retried the update, but my Nav is completely non operational. I also don't have the SW 24 or 25 version.

Oh, the car is a 2003 M3.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks.

All done and working in the UK...thanks!

Only problem was the download time of about 10 hours, other than that it's plug and play.

Another update done and all working thanks again especially Silent X5 I still would be messing around with those two files still. If you had not explained it!!

To all those who have not done it yet If you follow the instructions on this site it is very easy and only took 5 mins to update in the car. And for those of you in the UK do your upload at 9am was twice a quick as doing it in the evening or for you guys in the states do it in the middle of the night. Thanks again.

I just spoke to my friend who is a BMW Tech has not even heard of version 26 let alone updated any cars yet

So far everyone that I've seen that had a problem has been able to recover the drive. 99% of the time it was casused by an inferior CD-R media.

You can obtain older OS versions by looking here - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=88.

As long as you can get the CD out of the drive, there's a high probability that you'll be able to recover the nav drive.

Just for the safe of recording and burning, for the ones who made a perfect instalation, can you give me your Alcohol 120% options you used for recording ?
Or are you using the defaults ?

Whats your Write Method option in the Burning Wizard ?
And which DataType you use to burn ?

Thanks in advance...

I left everything at the default except for the burn speed.
