Ok, well then I think you are right in saying that you need the red CD. I tried to find out the differences between the three and the dealer couldn't tell me. I do know that the purple is for the current shape cars, not the E46 or X5. If the green doesn't work and the purple certainly won't then you need the red CD.
Where are you located in Aus? |

I stand corrected on the purple disk, it suits:
E87 1 series E90/1/2/3 3 series E60/1 5 series E63/4 6 series E70 X5 Mini R56 The red disk suits: E46 3 series E36 Z3 E85/6 Z4 E39 5 series E53 X5 E38, E65, E66 7 series Mini R50/2/3 The green disk suits RADIO version for: E87 1 series E90/1/2/3 3 series E61/1 5 series |

I don't think there is a red DVD. The Australian maps fit on a CD and the red series is designed for CD based cars as we were a couple of years behind in moving from the MKIII to MKIV in our cars. You could see if the dealer shows a red DVD on their system but I doubt it.
I only learnt all this today in doing the research for you as my dealer couldn't answer the same question when I asked as to what the differences were between the disks and most people on here are O/S based so didn't know either. I also upgraded/fitted a MKIV today and reading one of your earlier threads I'd say I bought it from the same seller you did out of the UK. I am taking my car in to the dealers on Tuesday to get it coded to the car, but it does appear to be working at present and it now shows MP3 tags as a neat side line. I paid circa $350 back in April/May for V14 but the dealer gave me a substantial discount. However I wouldn't be suprised if they have dropped the price on them as the year progresses. But having said that, I think they had a lot of issues with V14 and may now be NLA? Mine has been generally fine though. Good luck, let me know how you get on. |

Hi Guys
Does anyone have a backup copy of Australian V16 RED that they are prepared to share with me for a trial? I will pay for postage & disk cost etc. I would like to upgrade from my V13, but don't want to waste my $ on maps which have not been updated. (My 2005 maps do not show the suburb that I live in even though it has existed for 30 years , 25 years before my V13). If Sensis/Whereis have not included the updates, I don't want to waste another $350+. Please PM me if you can help. thanks |

Easiest way is to give a street address in the missing suburb, and ask someone to check if it is on the map.
Tip: do not post your home address! Otherwise everyone knows where a BMW lives.... |
