Question Upgrading from MKIII to MKIV and other newbie questions

Firstly a big HI as my first post!

I've done a lot of searching and research on this forum and I think I'm ready to upgrade my existing MKIII (V63 and now for sale ) to a second hand MKIV (V28 software) that I've just won on ebay

I live in Australia and the MKIV i won is coming out of an Australian car. It has v28 software on it apparantly. Please avoid any comments about why its being sold - I'm nervous enough as it is and aware of the risks

Anyway, here's what I've found out so far and I would appreciate any expert guidance to correct me.

1. Key out of car and remove the map disc from the MKIII.
2. Remove the MKIII from the rear rack using coat hanger or if I can reach use my fingers to push the tabs in and slide out unit.
3. Unplug the MKIII and plug in the MKIV and slide in the rack (if no tabs on it use the MKIII's)
4. Key in and turn to position ACC on
5. Wait - it may take a while to come up
6. When it seems to be all ok (when would this be?) Put in the Map Disk
7. Take it for a drive to "bed in"
8. Go to service menu (push menu button for a approx 8 secs on my model headunit) and turn on perspective mode
9. Enjoy perspective mode
10. If all OK - Now perfrom upgrade to MKIV Software up to V32 - this part i think is covered pretty well - ie burn downloaded image from this site put in the disk and again wait for a while while not using anything on the car and key in ACC position.
11. Again - put in Maps (does anyone have the latest version of Maps (V13 or even 14 for Australia they're willing share or receive $ for?)
12. Enjoy

So.. am I close?

Does the v32 software I downloaded from here apply to Australian MKIV's and X5's with the below config ok?

I've read conflicting posts on getting the unit assigned to the car? Do I need to do that and can I do that myself if I need to do it?

I have a 2004 X5 with a 16:9 headunit and a MKIII at the moment (obviously) It shows 3-1/63 as the software.
The car has TV, OBC, RDS and a MIO iPod connector and after market Parrot Bluetooth kit.
Its a 3.0 diesel (not that i think that should matter) has had a JVC digital amp put in with a few 12" bazooka's at the rear and the OEM front door speakers and window tweeters have been swapped out for some stronger models.

I will take a few pics and jot down the step by step more fully as I go cause I think that the info I've found was a little confusing and sort of here and there and maybe it would be nice having a complete piece to help others as this is likely to happen more often I think so your help is going to a good cause!!

Thanks for your help in advance
