I agree. I have Navigation in my X5 and I also have a Garmin Nuvi. I think $200 dollars for a 2009 CD is crazy!

Definitely think $200 for an updated disc is stealling on the company's part. They should do it like most companies that you buy software from does it. Pay $200 once.. then pay $50 to get the updated DVD.. have a license key or something that locks down the DVD to a vehicle.. i dont know. where there's a will there's a way anyway.

I'm not trying to get it for free, but anyone know where i can get the 2009.1 High for my 05 X5 for less than $200? lol

Since the Nav 2009.1 DVD High USA is elusive, how about 5 or 10 of us join together to split the cost of buying one then make copies for ourselves? I would spear head the initial investment of buying it and then the 4 or 9 other interested parties would just pay either $40+shipping (4 people) or $20+shipping (9 people.) I am estimating shipping to be about $5 max using USPS Priority mail fixed rate small package to ship it to everyone that signs up.

Interested parties can PM me.

Update:

So far I've gotten only one response indicating interest in the "group" buy I proposed and as I indicated to the gentleman, I just placed the order for BMW Nav DVD 2009.1 High so should be getting it by the latest Tuesday. I'm hoping since we all complained that it wasn't fair to pay $200 for an update, we could save costs by sharing the cost for one.

1/5th or 1/10th of the proceeds would be gladly donated to the forum if that is okay by the admin & moderators.

I believe making copies of the Navigation software and
distributing it is illegal. That may be the reason you have
received little response.

Just a suggestion: You can often find a copy that is a year or two older on eBay for less.

Thanks for the heads up. I was of the erroneous assumption that since it would be a "group buy" by a fixed number of people who are jointly paying for it, that would make it fairly acceptable. Anyway, I've already placed the order for it.

Aside from the legal aspect of your proposal, many have found out that copies of the DVD often don't work properly, so your partners run the risk of getting nothing for their investments.
