use a small flat head and lift up on each corner wedge as you put the soldering iron on the connection this should free it up..FYI - I did not have a desoldering pump. Good Luck!

Hi,
I notice you have listed Grandata.co.uk as a source for the spare parts. I actually found this site by chance myself earlier in the week and ordered the laser unit. But...I now realise I may have ordered the wrong part as it's frequently mentioned you need the laser pick-up with the black plastic cap, not the white which Grandata supply.
Description from website: Sanyo.SFHD4 DVD Laser white cap
So is the link posted in this thread incorrect, as it states it's a DVD laser pickup (not CD)??
If not, I will have to go to someone like Dalbani to source the parts.

Thans in advance.

Edit: I just re-read the whole thread and noticed M3Zenergy has fitted the same unit to his but reads DVD's only so I guess my question has been answered. Dont think I would need to use CD's in the Nav drive unless updating firmware??

NONONO, I tried the white one, same as m3z and it didn't work with any of the dvds but it works with the cd.

The black is a must for dvd.

Thanks, that explains why it was so cheap (£10) but no problem, I will just return it and go to Dalbani (Nikko Electronics). I guess the link (Grandata) needs to be removed from the thread then?

Just reading between the lines though, it looks like it can only read DVD's and not CD's??
I take the the black cap ones read both DVD/CD?

Sorry. Some weeks ago I collected all links for SF-HD4 sources. At that time GranData offered the one with the black plastic as well.
