Angry Lost GPS Navigation from menu

Hi,

I have 2001 530i (E39) which had software 3-1/30 running. I downloaded the version 32 from this site, set the ignition to position 1, entered GPS navigation from the menu and replaced the navigation cd with the image that i had burned.

The display quickly flashed up that it was updating the software and went blank. I left it for 15mins and the cd often ejected and reloaded on its own.

After no activity for over 5mins I turned off the ignition and now I have lost GPS navigation from the menu. The color of the menu's etc. have reset and now when i go into SET it does not show a software version.

Any help\advide available please? can i just reload the previous software back on? any forum links would be great.

Thanks.

PAul

You inserted a mode 1 CD, which crashed the Mk3 and deleted the OS.

Without a functioning nav computer, the TV tuner in the car took over the job of generating the graphics (different look, no Navigation as option)

To fix the problem use a Mode2/Form1 CD, from V22 or above, and that should restore the Mk3
