Burnt DVDs in Navi...possible?

Hello, everyone! My first post on there after a while of lurking. Please excuse my noobieness in advance.

I have a friend with the latest (2009, I think) map pack for mk4 high navi. I am wondering if I can run a burnt copy of the disk in my car.

I got V32 firmware if that matters at all.

Welcome to the forum,

It might be considered bad form with your very first post to ask whether you can break the law with copyright infringement, however, yes you can technically copy the disc, it does not have any copy protection, but as Quicksilver says, you may have problems getting it to work in your drive.

Some Nav drives are very picky about what they will and won't read, some will some wont, try a dvd-r first, then a dvd+r, if nether work then you will be out of luck.

If you do, make the image using something like imgburn and the when you burn write at the slowest rated speed of the blank or x1 speed.

Thank you for your replies and yes, I know that it's unlawful to make copies of that dvd.

Either way, it didn't work so I guess I'm off to my local dealer to drop 300 bucks on a bloody map pack.

It should work, aswell with DVD-R as DVD+R.
If your drive doesn't read the copy DVD your laser may be weak.... (solution is a new laser or complete new dvd unit)

It worked just fine.

After experimenting with different speeds and programs, the best result was achieved with Imgburn at 6x speed.
