I know its now an age old classic, and i had read hundreds of "Mathos" classics threads BUT...!! I am now on my 25th attempt to add speed cameras / POI to my 2008-2 high DVD. I have been through the process so many time I can now edit my Eng.LSC file blind folded. Every thing is ok but when i scroll through to Places of Interest / speed cameras, i see the search screen, scroll to search hit the button and nothing happens...I have made sure the reference in the ENG.LSC file refer to the correct IDX & URL's..79 & 80 in my case.
I have used "104" TPD-GRP 700 8410 7947 104 110 7996 2084 TPD-CAT 104 N SAFETY CAMERAS ICONDSC 104 G508-G524-S035/ICONS/NAVI0X/POI_CAMERA.PNG+G539-I0+G523-I2+G522-I1+G521-I2! ICONDSC 104 G508-G524-S031/ICONS/RR/POI_CAMERA.PNG+G539-I0+G523-I2+G522-I1+G521-I2! # CAMERA TPD-SEV 104 INDEX_TABLE=ENG/TABLES/0/0079.IDX?URL_TABLE=ENG/TABLES/0/0080.URL Any advise would really be appreciated its now becoming an obsession..!

Welcome to the forum and Happy new year.
You have 2 problems I think; 1: 0079 and 0080 are already used in the 2008-2 map disc, use 0081 and 0082. 2: You have missed the htm reference files out (st_cameras.htm and sf_cameras.htm) Please find a link with all you need (already modded) to mod your disc, (please note there is no camera db in the zip file), just rename and use yours. a) Add (drag n drop) camera_splash.gif to the "\TPD\Icons" folder b) Add (drag n drop) POI_CAMERA.PNG to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ICONS\RR" folder. c) Add (drag n drop) POI_CAMERA.PNG to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ICONS\NAVIOX" folder. d) Overwrite (drag n drop) the ENG.LSC file in the ""\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ENG" folder. e) Add (drag n drop) 0081.idx to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. f) Add (drag n drop) 0082 to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ENG\TABLES\0" folder. g) Add (drag n drop) SF_CAMERAS.HTM to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ENG\SE" folder. h) Add (drag n drop) ST_CAMERAS.HTM to the "\TPD\NCCBEUFNM_EU_20080610\ENG\SE" folder. Here is the link to the zip file; Clicky HTH

Speed cameras on 2008-2 Map
Well, this morning there's good news & bad news...!! Good news, your ENG.lsc file works perfect and search facility finds all the GATSO cameras...! The bad new, even though i have the latest UK speed camera data base from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com the first camera is some 3,000 mile away..(somewhere in Europe i guess). The files i downloaded and tried was Navman.ASC/UK-Single file with all cameras and Other.ACS TomTom/UK-Single file with all cameras..! Converted with mk4 to create IDX & URL. What am i missing...?
Additionally, can i use mk4 with file name "ENG CAMERAS" to convert all other POI ASC Files to create IDX & URL..? Thanks for your help so far.. Appreciated. M |

It sounds like something is going wrong with the conversion, download and use this convertor http://tinyurl.com/7ysmvn place into a dir with the .asc files, then open a dos window and cd to that dir, then run the convertor (from the dos window) with this command, "c:\dos\asc2idxurl_mk4 ENG CAMERAS" (no quotes), make sure you don't have the explorer window open in the same dir as this will genarate error in the idx file, only have the dos window open. I'll try the tomtom OV2 file, i already have the POI convertor so this step should be simple..!! (famous last words).
I have converted the ASC files with asc2idxurl_mk4.exe, but will try the fresh script suggested in your link..! My question refered to using asc2idxurl_mk4.exe to create the IDX & URL files from ASC format POI..! If for instance i download a POI database for.....lets say "Banks" how do i convert/extract the IDX & URL files....Can i Use asc2idxurl_mk4.exe if so what would the DOS command be..? Thanks again..! You have to be carefull with asc2idxurl_mk4.exe, or any program that creates URL files. If you have a Windows explorer windo open showing the folder in which you are creating the files, Windows will try and index them, which locks them for writing - so they get truncated!
Try creating the files with all explorer windows closed, run asc2idxurl_mk4.exe from a command prompt. |

Mission accomplished...I can now see all local speed cameras....I guess it was the tomtom.ov2 file that helped.
Thanks Again. M |
