No. Do the following:

1. Check connectors at back of nav are clean, fit well, and are correctly seated.
2. Make sure the nav is getting power - does the Eject button illumination work?
3. If the nav has died, you can send to VDO Repair Facility in Wetzlar Germany. Or take the opportunity to replace it with a 2nd hand Mk4 nav and enjoy the upgrade :-)

If the eject illumination doesn't work then suspect
1. No power due to blown fuse
2. No power due to faulty unloader relay

Fuses are in the rear of the X5, but the the radio still works, and makes sound etc, then fuses will be OK.

Have you checked the connectors on the nav?

Any idea how much it costs to have it repaired at that place in germany?
Also I am getting a display, but no sat nav logo on the screen?? Is the nav unit definatly dead even though it accepts and tries to read the cd and then ejects it?? Im curious to know if its lost its operating instructions with the battery going dead?? Is this possible? I only have one cd for it and thats the original maps one..
Thanks for any help
