MKIII with problems

I just got a set of discs for my '01 750iL with the W/S monitor and MKIII nav computer. I put the CD1 disc in last night and it worked fine. This morning, when I took the car out, I selected Nav on the menu and I got a message to please wait and hit ok. The Nav option was then disabled on the menu.

I tried ejecting the disc and no go. I could hear the CD laser seeking and a frequent click from the unit, about ever 15 seconds or so. Holding the button would not eject the CD.

I finally pulled the unit and after looking at couple threads here about similar problems I disconnected the power and hit the button a few times quickly and it spit out the disc.

When I put the disc back in I got the same behavior.

It's been really cold here at night lately. Could this be effecting it?

Also, one of my tail lights is leaking water into the trunk. I've dried it up, but could humidity cause problems?

I took the unit inside the house and I'm going to let it warm up and dry out over night and see if that helps.

I just got the car so I don't know if the PO had problems with the Nav and since they let the car be repo'd, I don't think I'll be able to find out.

Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh, and if it makes a difference, the system has O/S version 3-1/20 in it. That's the original S/W it was released with, according to the stickers on the unit.

Upgrade the OS. BMW changed the map data format a few years ago. Maybe an OS update will kickstart things.

I tried doing that. The CD was just spinning in the drive. No messages on the screen indicating that it was doing anything and again, the CD wouldn't eject until I powered it down and up again, then hit the button a few times.

I just put the unit back in the car and now the power light doesn't come on at all. The unit is getting power, since the light on the eject button is lit and I can put a disc in it. Still have to drop power to get it to eject, though.
