Strings of CheckControl Display
Can anyone tell me where can i find Strings which we can see on the CheckControl Display? KiwiJochen sad to me that all the Strings like "range, time, cons1, cons2" are inside of navboot yesteday i searched through the navboot of MK4 in V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw/navboot but i founded nothing.
Are there any other Files which contain these strings? Thanx to Jochen Thanx to all Last edited by sterzal; 01-19-2009 at 07:36 AM. |

As I recall, the Nav sends the value plus the units to the CheckControl display.
The units are in the navboot file eg: 001/0359 "km" 001/0360 "mls" 001/0361 "Consump." 001/0362 "l/100km" 001/0363 "mpg" 001/0364 "km/l" 001/0365 "Temperature" 001/0366 "°C" 001/0367 "°F" The units are the same text that appears in the Computer display on the nav |

Then they are in the IKE. To change the text, you must edit ROM of IKE

In addition to what Jochen said already - even changing of formulation of this several units which are exists in the navboot file they will remains in old formulation on the dashboard..... to change it, as already mentioned below, it is necessary to change IKE rom

You cannot edit IKE ROM over the ibus.
Possibly you have to remove IKE, remove ROM / EPROM / Flash memory from IKE, dump memory contents with EPROM reader, and then analyse, then reload. Not a job for the faint hearted. And if your goal is translating the languages into another language, remember that the LKM also sends messages to the CheckControl display. So you will have to edit the ROM in the LKM as well. I know a guy who tried to do this, and some of the language strings in the LKM or IKE were encrypted, he was trying to figure out the encryption method. I don't know if he ever succeeded. |

Yes, i wanted to translate these messages, but now i think i can forget it, otherwise i'll be the best client of BMW-Service, because then they have to repair all the shit that i made wrong.
