nav not reading dvd map

i have a 2004 m3 and i just downloaded the 2009.1 high version for my mk4 system. the filename was 'bmw_navi_2009.1" file size was 4.07gb and was in .mdf .mds format.

i used imgburn at 1x speed on memorex dvd+r media. i am currently running v31 as well with the M splash screen and female british voice (do i need to upgrade to v32?).

now is there something i need to do to 'load' the dvd map into the car? i know there was a special procedure for loading firmware. all i get is 'incorrect dvd/map"

Incorrect = map format / data is wrong.

Cannot read = weak laser

hmm okay. i'll try again in a few hours with the v32... many people on the torrent site said that they got it to work after a v32 upgrade in their mkiv, sucks that i'm going to lose my m splash screen and voice though.

edit: tried the v32 upgrade and the OS upgraded but still got 'incorrect dvd' showing. at least i know my laser is working fine... looks like it may just be a problem of not using the right DVD+R media because it seems like others have gotten it to work.

Did you ever figure out how to get this to work, I got the same problem. I assume it's how I burned the DVD

Yeah I think mine has somethng to do with the way I am acutally burning the img on the DVD. I have the high version. But I kind of just put the data on the DVD I didn't really burn an img.

Then it won't work properly as the drive won't know its a nav map disc.

unzip the file (if it's been zipped up), run imgburn, and open the .iso, or .mds, or .bin with imgburn and then put a blank dvd in the drive and then write at a speed supported by the blank.

when you are downloading 1 or more files, then you must extract them into a new folder.
then post here the complete name of new file incl. extension. Then we can help easier.
When youŽll extract your downloaded files twice youŽll extract the files from the includes files of image. That coult bee your problem and your owned created DVD didnŽt have the right name (NAV_DV...) and so on...

A look into the DB folder can show which DVD youŽve downloaded:
DB_0 feat DB_1 iss a DVD High Version.
eu.abc, eu.aff, .... = Prof-Version
