Upgrade help to 2009.1

I'm trying to upgrade the Nav DVD in my wife's 2007 X5. I purchased one off of ebay (part # 65 90 2 147 677) but it doesn't work. My guess is that I purchased the wrong version or part number. I've tried to search for this information with no success.

Can anyone help with the 2009.1 DVD part number for a 2007 X5?

I don't have the part number. You need the Professional version of the DVD rather than the High one.

According to an ad on eBay, the part # for the 2009.1 High Version is 65 90 0 431 723. I don't know if the seller is correct.

Updated again...

According to an ad on Amazon, you have the correct part. See here

Thanks for your reply. I called Navteq and they told me that it was the correct part number too. All that I know is that it doesn't work in our X5. I think that I was sold a defective disk off of ebay. I guess that's the gamble that you take. I'll try it again once the wife gets home from work.

There isn't anything special that I need to do to install it, is there? Just plug it in and go...correct?

No, nothing special that you need to install. I have swapped versions without any issues. I think others have posted that you should wait 5 minutes to start the car after changing the DVD but I've never had to do anything like that (with my 2008 4.8i).

Does the disk have the official BMW printing on it? Does it look genuine? Does it have scratches?

I'm trying the "wait 5 minutes" thing now. I also pulled it out of the garage just in case it needs to see the sky for some reason.

It has the offical looking BMW printing and it looks genuine. It does have some minor surface scratches but I've seen DVDs work with much worse.

I think I just got ripped off by the guy from ebay. I sent him a note today asking for a refund or replacement. He replied that there were no refunds "as stated in his posting". This makes me think that he knew that it wouldn't work. I'll give him one more try before I give him negative feedback and bash his already bad name.

I'm just trying to upgrade the maps DVD. After this experience, I'm afraid to update the operating system.

All you have to do is take out the old dvd and pop in the new one and you're done...

Is it giving you the cd/dvd inserted is incorrect error?

No, it WAS just displaying the message "insert DVD". The display wouldn't change even when the new DVD was inserted. When I replaced the old DVD it would come up fine. Someone said that I may need to leave it in for 5 minutes before I started the vehicle. I did that in addition to backing it out of the garage and now it works!

I'm going to use it for a few days before I call it fixed, but this is a good sign!!

See my post # 2.

You got the right one, it's just defective. Call up the company to see if they'll exchange it for you.
