Navi questions...

Hey everyone.. I have this 2003 Acura TL-s/navi but will be replacing this on Friday with an 05/ X5 4.4i. I can't wait!

The 4.4i, doesn't come with Navi.

Am I better off purchasing a Garmin or searching for an OEM navi. What do these typically go for. I'm not going to be dumping thousands into this thing just yet. I know for around $500.00 I can get the top of the line Mac Daddy Garmin.

Thanks

A small, non-integrated portable nav is always cheaper than the factory-fitted or retro-fit BMW nav, even when buying 2nd hand

The factory nav works better, imho, but costs more.

Spend a couple hundred to get an inexpensive portable navigation computer now. Then, start shopping for retrofit parts. The big difference is that the nav controls everything - radio, on-board computer, DSP settings, telephone, etc. So, it is not just the navigation feature, it is a major upgrade to in-car electronics and usability.
