Has anybody run in to a situation like this , I have a 03 map disc , and it only works when the outside tempreature is below 50 degrees i can see the maps , poi , and all that but on warm days the screen says something like problem with disc unable to read disc and theres nothing other times it comes on , but i cant program destinations or it comes on and then goes off in about 20 minutes... any input on this would be appreciated

When it's giving errors and you pop the disc out, does it feel REALLY hot?

Is it the original disc? You'll get more disc errors with a copy.

Is the disc scratched? If it is, you could buy a used one cheaply. It's an old one.

You may want to try another disc. You could copy yours and see if that improves the situation. Or you could borrow a disc.

I had this with the Nav in my E46 - I eventually managed to get the dealer to swap the Mk4 out under warranty and it resolved the issue - evidently it was the fan in the Mk4 Navicomp that had failed causing the thing to overheat. Having Orient Blue paint didn't help either as it was a very dark blue and seemed to suck up the heat from the sun on the rare sunny days we have in the UK.
