05 130i Idrive sat nav upgrade help

Hi, great forum but im still a bit confused

I am trying to upgrade my disk to a 09-1 but with no luck, i downloaded it and burnt it to a dual layer DVD but waiting 5 minutes to load it says some disk error

I have a I drive currently with an original 2005-2 Professional DVD

Firstly I cant tell which version o/s it runs to even try and upgrade that as it seems to be quite different to most ones stated here

Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Matt

iDrive nav systems can only be upgraded by the dealer using BMW diagnostic system.
(except for 7-series E65).
Talk to your dealer about possible upgrades, as the whole car is done at the same time (not just the nav).
Nav software version is in the Service Menu, accessed via the iDrive controller:
To access service menu in i-drive cars:
1. From the main menu display, press the controller down for minimum 6 seconds.
2. Turn the controller 3 increments clockwise (to the right).
3. Turn the controller 3 increments counter-clockwise (to the left).
4. Turn controller 1 increment clockwise (right).
5. Turn controller 1 increment counter-clockwise (left).
6. Turn controller 1 increment clockwise (right).
7. Push down on the controller.
8. To exit the service mode, select the return arrow at the bottom on the left of the screen.

Make sure you are using the Professional map, and not the High map.

thanks for the info bro

The nav packed up about 4 months ago and it went back to BMW under warranty. It came back with a split screen version so i assume it was updated with a latest version at the time.

Do i only have to worry about the prof disk that i am burning then as ensuring i get a proper version and burn it correctly?
