Wait... Are you talking about simply replacing the screen with a new one?

Or are you saying an X5 screen will fit onto an e46 CD player brain, thereby allowing an OEM cd player solution for the X5?

There isn't enough available depth inside the X5 dash to fit the CD player version (it is deeper than the tape version). That's the reason the X5 didn't get the CD option in 2003 when the E46 did.

Gotcha... I find it simply amazing that in 2000 an X5 wasn't coming with a CD player. I mean music stores in the states flat out stopped selling cassettes in the early 90s... Heck, the Honda Civic I drove in college back in 96 came standard with a CD player...
