Question Any way to avoid a road?

I've got an MKIV DVD Nav system, running the latest (v32) nav software. I was just wondering if there is any way to have the nav skip a road that it has selected.

I know you can avoid highways, toll roads, etc..., but that's not what I mean. As an example, and the reason I am asking, is that a tractor trailer recently overturned, closing a portion of a major highway near me. As that road is otherwise the quickest way to my destination, the nav wanted me to take that road. I don't want to select avoid highways, since there are several other highways I could take. I wanted the ability to select that road in the route list, and have it avoid it.

Does anyone know of a way to do this, or something that would have the same effect.

Thanks in advance.

I know if you start going another route it will recalculate the route, I do that all the time with BMW nav as well as garmin etc. If it is just on the highway you could select "avoid highway" otherwise the only way I can think of is just to start driving another route and wait for it to adjust.

That's what I ended up doing. The only problem was, for the first 15 minutes, it either wanted me to make a U-turn or just take another route to the highway that was closed. Eventually I got far enough away for it to recalculate a different route not using the closed highway. The problem was, I didn't really know the area, and I basically had to drive blindly until it did recalculate a better route.
