MK3 / Mode2 / Custom Update
I'm trying to change a few things using Navtweak namely the splash screen. I've followed ccfj1's thread as best that I could. When I re-inject the modified navboot file back into the .bin file and save it, it converts the image to mode1. Why is that? I have downloaded all the recommended software, UltaISO, imgBurn, etc...I also own MagicISO and NERO and have fooled around with those in this process as well. I cannot for the life of me make the final image work?! I've read many things about how this is done but I can't get them to work at all. What is this software ccfj talks about: mode2_converter? I can't find a download for that. I've tried to create many custom CD images to no avail. Some got stuck and I had to do the hold button trick to get the CD out. Navi crapped out. I got it back up again using the v21.1 image floating around here. I'm just stuck. I can't get the mods I want installed mainly I think because my CDs are burning in Mode1. I did manage to get MagicISO to burn a disk straight from the program as mode2 but it failed too. I think because of the TOC or something. Thanks all! Brian |

I have a link to the modded version of the mode 2 converter I'll PM it over to you.
its a bit more complicated to make a mode2 but easier (if you know what I mean). basically unzip a normal v32 mode1 image and then make a dir on your pc and call it say c:/v32 then open the v32.iso image in ultraiso (or similar) then drag and drop all the contents (inc dir structures) into the v32 dir. Then edit the navboot or usr_load files in the normal way (navtweak), once done. run mode2converter and drag and drop all the files from the v32 dir into mode2converter, then make. This creates 3 files, a .cue a .bin and a .toc, open the .cue with imgburn and hey persto, one mode2/form1 mk3 OS image.

Another quick question. I've read to use the 'navboot' file located here:
Code:
\V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S\app_sw Code:
extracted\Mk3\0116\BMWC01S\app_sw Thanks! brian

For the mk4 the top one (navboot) and for the mk3 the bottom, (usw_load).
Also you may need to edit all the usw_load files in the 0103, 0116 and 0127 dir depending on your type of car and the coding of the vehicle.

The trick is this:
If you open a Mode2 ISO image, edit it, and then use SAVE it stays Mode2. But if you use SAVE AS it converts to Mode1 So copy and rename the ISO before opening, then always use SAVE. Worked for me reliably with my Mk3 |
