the cd is mode 1 or mode2/form1, because if use a mode1 navi sw on mk3, this is exactly what is happened...use navcoder or other software like inpa that force mk3 to ask for navigation software, and use a proper cd - mode2/form1 - use imgburn for this, it's detect that is in mode 1 or mode2

Ok, i went to the dealer. They said, they ll reprogram the nav unit and upload the v32 for 200 bucks. If it doesnt work then i get a new nav unit as they said. Is it worth to try ?

IMO, I would try to burn the Image again in Mode 2 as zeronoo suggested. Mode 1 update usually crashed MK3's. Also keep in mind that you can't always burn CD's at 1x speed if the minimum they support is a 4x. Image burn should recognise that though. Quality of the CD is also "Very" important. What brand of CD are you using? BMW Nav's (especially MK3's) can be very picky and usually don't entertain unbranded CD's. As for the mode, If you Select "Write Image File to Disc" and browse to the image downloaded from here, ImgBurn usually autmatically recognises it as a Mode 2, however just to make sure, check in the log screen at the bottom. It will tell you what mode it's burning it in. If this doesn't work, try Roxio creater, that worked perfectly for my Sat nav as did the ImgBurn

That's a good quality CD, usually works flawlessly, did you try re-install from a Mode 2 CD?

In my opinion, the shitty burned cd deleted the software in the navi unit. So there is no screen on the navi. If i put any kimd of cd in the nav unit. It doesnt know if there is a cd or not. As i know after this point. The car has to be connected to some kind od computer and make the navi unit ask for the cd. Putting a cd wont work imo.
