Dvd player, tv tuner, backup camera HELP!!!!!!!

so basically ive been searching all over for some good info on whats needed to hook up a backup camera, tv tuner, and dvd player to my factory 16:9 navigation system. I recently converted from the 4:3 and would like to uprade the cars entertainment system a little bit. I have been looking and it seems like TVonNAV is a popular choice for a module to connect all these components but i cant find any info on them and am not sure exactly how all this works. Basically i want to kno what is needed to connect these three things to my factory nav and be able to control them via the radio. I have found a module here BMW X5 TV Nav Video Input Interface. Connect a DVD Player, TV Tuner, Reverse Backup Video Camera, iPod Video, Aftermarket Navigation Or Other AV Source To Your Car's OEM GPS Navigation Headunit - LCD Screen Display - Nav System. but still am not sure if its all i would need...any help would be great!

Have a read of this thread Rear View Camera Retrofit - MTorque - Passion for M

Also use this to translate the Ebay web page Yahoo! Babel Fish - Text Translation and Web Page Translation

I'd recommend buying the complete kit, it's not that dear and then you'll have everything that is OEM.

The GNET module mentioned above was the one that I initially purchased for my E83. I was not impressed with it and the adjustable caps fell apart after about a year. The video was never really that impressive in real use though. I did like the small footprint of the device though. I have since replaced it with a combo video/IBUS interface which provides only a VGA input from a PC with a very nice picture on the HU NAV screen.

I've read plenty of posts saying that you need to run an additional wire to the reversing light (via a relay) to force the HU to switch the the reverse camera when reversing, but cant find any specifics. i even email toysinyourcar a week ago as they sell the lead with av in, av out and reverse camera in, but no reply.

Does anyone know which pin on the blue plug i need to tap into, and what signal it needs?

and also if anyone knows the pins on the white plug to wire the reverse camera into (as i currently have the av in lead but it doesn't have the reverse camera input).

Cheers

There was no relay involved for the reversing camera although it might be safer to utilize one.

I used to have a pin out for the cable NAV-TV module cable. I believe if you have a look at the "old" Yahoo NAV forum you may find some diagrams there.

I guess that's why I purchased the custom loom with video in/out, audio in and backup camera connections for the E-46 many years ago. I guess for the monies that I spent on the video TV module I didn't want to accidently short it out and took no chances. The loom looks pretty OEM with the cloth like coverings. In this entire mix I had also added the USB IBUS interface. The interface itself would use the reversing voltage (ground) to switch the video on/off in AUX mode. So in summary my AUX audio mode on my HU switches the video from BMW to aux video at the same time using the reverse camera inputs but using the IBUS instead of the backup lighting/switch. On the E46 if I go to the HU menu / TV menu I have a choice of aux video. This is one video input lead of the loom. Doing the BU camera switch picks the second video input on the loom and displays on the aux video input over riding the BMW video screen.

BTW - I made the mistake of not installing a BU camera while I had the whole rear section of the boot apart. I needed to dismantle the boot to be able to install the rear LED tails. It was somewhat time consuming.

This is the pin out. Looks like signal from reverseing camera goes to pin 1 on the purple plug. But not sure which one is the switch. Does it need 12v, or ground to switch it? So do i earth it to overide the HU and show the reverse camera (which i would wire in paralell with the reverse light)?

Went searching in my very old archives.

Here is what I found. Diagram in english states pin 17 switch to ground for video. NOTE: These are for the OEM TV Tuner input/output connections versus your's above for the NAV input/output connections.
