Navigation-system Professional software for a 2006 E92

Have to first congratulate you on a very informative forum, I look forward to spending time on here.
I am getting a 2006 E92 tomorrow with Navigation-system Professional and I am wondering which software it requires to make it up to date with full post code search.
The software map it has if I am not mistaken is dated 2007 and is a total waste of time.
Street that I live in is over 100 yrs old and it is not listed in this map and it seemed not to have Postcode search facilities.
So I wondered which software would make my navigation up to date and if I would need to update the firmware.
Exact name would be appreciated as there are so many different versions out there and am a bit lost. Thanks in advance.

I would keep waiting...

It looks like BMW is changing its relationship with Navteq, the company that used to provide the map updates. It has been a while since Navteq published a new version. BMW dealers are saying that an update is coming soon. So, I would wait a few months to see if anythnig shows up before you spend money on a new map DVD.

As for the OS update for the nav computer itself, only a BMW dealer can update that. I would get the dealer to make sure that the latest software is fully loaded on the car before you take delivery.

Thanks for the info, I have contacted the dealership regarding the firmware and the salesman said he would check regarding the this as he did not have a clue to what I was talking about.
I would still like to update the software as a nav system with no postcode is of no use as far as I am concerned. I have used a small mio digiwalker with tomtom installed for about 5 years and most times it has done what it was supposed to do however it would be a shame to have to use that instead of the BMW inbuilt system.
So could anyone please let me know which version would have postcode included, thanks.

You have the PRO version of the nav so OS updates are done by the dealerships only, normally as part of the service routine (you have to ask though).

As for the 7 digit postcode search, thats a function of the map disc and BMW do not supply disc with this, so you would need to get a non OEM modded map disc, it uses the POI menu for the search, it's a clumsy way of doing it but works.

5 digit postcode should work, (use the town field and just type the postcode not the town name), then input the house number.

BTW 2010-1 is the latest PRO disc version.
