Wing mirrors
I wonder if anyone has experienced the following:
Is it possible to program the wing mirrors to turn inwards when the car is locked ? Can this be achieved with Navcoder ? Thanks |

No mate, you need the GT1 (tablet) or the SSS (coder), the folding mirror on lock is part of the comfort close option and can be done at any Indy or dealer, cost should be no more than £40, (I paid £20 for a load of coding work).

What? getting the mirrors to go up/down when locked/locked, I'm pretty sure it is mate, I've seen it done.
It's on the initial option (for dealer coding) that the dealer gives the 1st owner (the buyer), the owner ticks what then want and the dealer codes kit as part of the handover. I have the coding option list somewhere.

Not on the E46. As you know John I have a GT1/SSS and with the help of a master tech we worked out that it wasn't possible. BUT, my car is build 03/2003 with a General Module with diagnosis index 41. The GM after mine with diagnosis index 42 may be able to do it, but I never confirmed it as it would mean changing over the GM, it just wasn't worth it. Here is the info out of the WDS on the GM:
Versions of the general module The following development stages exist for the general module: • Saving the mirror position in mirror memoryGeneral module with diagnosis index 40 (High version) or 50 (Low version) Deployment up to 09/2002 • General module with diagnosis index 41 (High version) or 51 (Low version) Deployment as of 09/2002 Redesign version with the following changes: • • Revised hardware • Output for interior lights clocked to balance our electrical system fluctuations • Additional output for consumer shutdown VA2 for control units • Rain sensor can switch to wiper stage 2 • Adaptations to E85 Z4 and E83 X3 General module with diagnosis index 42 (High version) or 52 (Low version) Deployment as of 03/2003 • Same as redesign version but additionally with LIN bus for mirror function and for a central switch block • • Control of the mirror functions: Mirror memory, mirror heating and folding mirror The E53 would be the same. I tried coding my general module, seat/mirror modules and nothing made the mirrors work on convenience closure. There are after market kits that can do it, but from my research on my model car it is not possible. |

Well that's me told, lol, thanks for the detailed info Gavin, that's handy to know.
I must admit, it was on a 2004 car that it was enabled.

John,
As your car is later than mine I'd be interested to know if you did a Navcoder scan to confirm that you have the later GM and then if you recoded your car with the GT1/SSS if you can get yours to work. |
