Upgrading MK III OS and Nav

So after reading the forum and all the MK IV information (which BTW is very interesting reading), I'm looking to do an upgrade to my 2002 X5 MK III system . . . and first off, not in a position to go to MK IV = $$

So OS is SW 3-1/50 (v19) and know that latest/last for MK III is 3-1/63 (v22 or higher). Have downloaded v25 from neiloakley.com.
Nav CD is 2002-1 Southeast . . . yea, I know very, very old.

OK, now if anyone has done MK III update or can let me know how to do it, I'll have a go at it and thanks in advance.

BTW, thanks to X5 Meister for his assistance so far. Ray

Use V22 Less hassle. Make double sure you burn it in MODE2/FORM1 at the slowest available speed, verfiy twice, slap the disc in the drive, go for a smoke and a pancake, then come back to find the disc ejected and nav updated. Power cycle the car keys to reboot.

Do you know where I can get my MK III fixed? For some reason it will not read any upgrade disks.

If you want to go the safest route, you can just buy the update disk directly from BMW for $7. It is part number 01.59-0 141 891. Check out Tischer BMW (getBMWparts.com) to order it there. That way, you do not have to worry about burning it correctly.

I see no reason why he can't download v25. Why is there additional hassle?

Just burned a CD using CloneCD. In the application, I was only able to select the speed which I set at 1x. I did not see an option to select Mode2/XA or Mode2/Form1. So before I slap this puppy in, anyway to tell if it'll work? BTW, I can browse the CD on a PC and see the files.

I think it's more easy to recover from a failed upgrade.

Big +1. Use ImgBurn to make the OS update CD.
