Map formats

Is there any program available to make other map sources compatible with the bmw navi system?

In my phone i have Fugawi which is a program that can read various map formats. I would like to use normal terrain maps in the car navi. In sweden we have a map called Green Map, which is a map in 1:50 000 scale covering the entire country. I can have it on one DVD but it would be nice to have that in the car when going a bit offroad or on small roads or paths. Then i would have height-curves, vegetation info and so on right there on the navi! Any suggestions?

the VDO / BMW map format is proprietary and kept as a secret.

No one apart from VDO knows the format

So conversion is nigh on impossible,
