Hi this is my first post so please forgive me if it is an easy one to solve, the sat nav on my X5 (2005) has the SW 4-1/50 in the top right corner and I have had 3 discs off ebay and one from a source on here to upgrade the OS so I can have speed cameras and post code search and 3D view but the the dvd refuses to read any of the discs putting up on the screen No cd/dvd in navigation reader then after a few moments it reads ERROR in reading map cd/dvd please check the cd/dvd. I cant beleve that all the disc are incorrect but I am beging to think that my sat nav is locked at the SW version it has,
1, is it possible that the sat nav could be locked ![]() 2, is it possible to upgrade from SW 4-1/50 ![]() please help ![]() I have been tinkering so is it possible that I have turned something off or change a setting? Last edited by BRAITHWAITE; 06-27-2010 at 04:15 PM. |

Try updating to an unmodified BMW version of the SW first.
There are detailed and pictoral instructions on the threads about updating to read through on this very subforum. Make sure you follow them to the letter as they only work when you follow them to the letter. Neil Oakley posted some usefull stuff and links. If you have the latest version and are ready to move on to the POI updates, follow the threads on how to burn CDs in the correct MODE/FORM. Next read the POISON thread as it contains the speed camera information and find out how to add the features you want. |

That is the correct OS
Make sure you are burning the CD correctöy. Extract the ISO image Use ImgBurn from The Official ImgBurn Website, Click "Write image file to disc", select the ISO file, and click the big button on bottom left of ImgBurn to start the disc burning. |

Well done!
It also means the CD laser is dead. |
