speed and reverse connection fix.
ok using guide http://api.ning.com/files/gkKeuIWns3...structions.pdf with my sat nav loom i bought from bmw i had a spare black plug on this loom which didnt have anywhere to connect to the cars loom. this black plug had 3 wires 1 was a brown earth, and the other 2 coloured wires i traced back and they go to the burgundy coloured multiplug that connects to the back of the sat nav unit. following the guide i found my loom a bought was the "B" loom shown in parts discription in above guide,on B loom there are 6 connections labelled B1 to B6. if you are fitting mk 3 or 4 nav i think B3+B4 are not needed(if you have them on your loom, i didnt) B1 is the white 6 pin connector that goes to the white plug on cars loom. B2 is the black plug which some of us do not have the other connectors in our cars to fit. following the guide above i followed black plug B2 which goes to D1 of the D loom, following this process i found that these series of connections joine to X10117 the lcm (light control module) where the reverse feed would come from andX1170 abs unit for the speed pulse. looking at the wiring diagrams at the end of the guide, i found that the abs unit was sending the pulse signal out via a yellow wire with a red stripe, i had this colour wire in my spare black plug. from the lcm module it was sending the reverse signal out via a white wire with yellow stripe, this matched the other wire in the spare plug, the 3rd wire in the spare black plug is just a plain brown earth wire. so yellow with red stripe wire = speed pulse white with yellow stripe wire =reverse signal the brown just feed to the earth on the inner back wing. i am still trying to find out the best place to take the speed pulse from to feed the yellow+red wire, im sure its a black wire with white stripe, there is one of these wires in a white multi connector just by the back lights, cant drive my car at the moment as huge buldge in rear tyre so not safe. can anyone else confirm the pulse is from black wire white stripe? anyway it seems to match my loom, i bought from bmw cost less than £40 part number 61 12 6 915 134. please check for yourselves about the wiring as i said i havent had the chance to test my car out of action. |
