Mk3 Basic Operation Question

I have updated the MkIII OS to the most current, with night mode! (3-1/65). Very cool.

But, back to the basics. Say I want to find a Taco Bell near my location. How in the hell do you do that?

If I know the address for something, it works great. But it seems to be horrible at locating places by name. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, somewhere. Any ideas?

You need to look for restaurants in the POI menu mate, taco bell may not be available as a choice though.

That is what I was thinking. I mean, I use Taco Bell as an example, just because they are everywhere. But the list of restaurants is pretty pathetic, as well as the fact you can't search them.

Thanks for your help, but I think my $100 Garmin pretty much blows the doors off this couple thousand dollar nav system. Bummer

That's relative mate, we (in the UK) don't have them but we have KFC and Mcdonalds, they are not in the POI list either.

Alos, it's probably because they are not restaurants, they are fast food, you cant really expect a world wide company to compile all the fast food joints in the USA and put it on the map disc?? that would be a herculean task.

It is, but they are mostly high class and well off sort of places (i've never used it TBH).

Why not add them (you own places) to your map disc mate, I added all the KFC, mcdonalds and pizzahut locations (for the UK) on my disc and it works perfectly.

Really?, do they not show every restaurant with in a (say) 5m range of where you are now? and can you not search by name (I'm pretty sure I can).
