It is very easy to trash the MkIII if you don't perform the update properly or the disk you use isn't a good one. And I really don't understand why you were trying to upgrade, as 3-1/63 is as current as you can make your unit.
Here is a post on tips to eject a stuck disk. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...ion-drive.html Good luck

I thank you Ucrew for your reply. I used the 3 steps to take the CD out from the drive and now the drive does power up at all.
![]() Do you know anyone that can fix my drive because now the radio is on for only 3 minutes and then frozen. ![]() I mess up and I do not know what I was thinking ....please help |

The radio module is shutting down after 3 minutes because the i-bus is polling the nav drive and not getting a response. After 3 minutes it assumes it does not exist and terminates communication with the radio and nav modules.
Sorry, but I don't know anyone that repairs MkIII units. Perhaps other members can lend some assistance.

You will likely need to buy a replacement navigation computer. I recommend an upgrade to a DVD-based MKIV. They are faster, more features, and they are not prone to the failures like the MKIII. eBay is probably the best source, but you will have to be patient to find a good one at a good price.

So it was a pointless update exercise, as it would get you nowhere. To restore the nav, eject the CD 8hit the eject button constantly after power-up until CD is ejected) and then insert a proper Mode2/Form1 OS CD. Do not use Mode1 CDs. Mode1 CDs crash the nav, as you have experienced. |

A good burning tool which retains the format is ImgBurn (The Official ImgBurn Website) At all times cross fingers and pray to the fickle gods of flash memory. Because if the memory got corrupted, the nav is dead... |
