Nav question

Quick question...I have searched, but I need clarification

I have a 2001 x5 3/2001 build I have the small (split screen navi, not 16:9) I assume I have MKI what version do I need to download for the upgrade? Also which CD( I assume I need a cd not DVD) do I buy to get upgraded maps, checking eBay just not sure which one to buy? TIA

2001, I'd asume you have a mk3 mate, (unless someone has swpped it for a mk4)

Press menu and then set (or settings), in the top right hand corner will be some numbers like 3-1/63 or 4-1/00 this will tell you your OS version and the nav computer type.

3= mk3 and cd based
4= mk4 and dvd based (it will read cd's too).

/63 is the last for the mk3
/00 (as in 100, or 10.00) is the last for the mk4.

Any v32 disc will update either nav computer to the latest version of OS, if you download (as opposed to get one from the dealer), then make sure its a mode2 disc image.

I think the V32 files online are MODE1/FORM1.

Use V27 MODE2/FORM1. V28-V32 contain no additional data for MK3 users.

MODE1/FORM1 will brick a MK3. Use IMGBurn at the lowest supported speed burn speed that does not cause errors. Be prepared to waste a few CD-R to get the burn perfect before putting it in your precious MK3.

MK4 is much more resilient.
