I downloaded form the first link but the navi stuck so Iwent to the second link. That is the result. I downloaded the full package (DL DVD) then reduced to 4,5, for SL DVD, added POI (my own procedure manually)..that is it.

I have an 08 and I found the maps a bit out dated. Do we just download this and stick the dvd in or is there more procedure to it?

I've read people did that in the past and it crashed their nav.

As for everything, you have to know what you are doing. Problems are coming sometimes when changing the navi firmware but no problem at all with the map dvd....never had problem with dvd map. For map modding you need some pc skill, but not so difficult.

Nobody has anything like this for north america? I have an mk4 system in my girlfriend's car and after taking it in for service her nav dvd is now MIA. It was a custom map disc, but it's gone now. No idea where to get another one cheap/free. I do not want to drop 200 for one.
