Yes, and still for no good reason - it is a pair of single layer DVDs which together are under 7GB.

East was built from a map database dated July 14,2011 and POI dated July 25, 2011.
West was built from a map database dated July 19, 2011 and POI dated July 26, 2011.

I suggest that everyone who wants these order them from the BMW Navigation Map Updates Store - that's the official TomTom / BMW site - and then return them for a full refund (ask for your shipping to be refunded, too), complaining that they're way out-of-date and that the map is split onto 2 discs for no reason at all. That's the only way they're going to get the message that this is unacceptable.

Return them?

Once you open them and determine they are out of date, you cannot return them- pursuant to the terms of the purchase agreement....

I admire the tactic, but I'd rather just screw them over by downloading it.

On this topic, with the new CIC system, BMW gives the data away for almost free- I just bought 6 DVDs with 2011 and 2012 map data for $10. Yes, ten.

But the thing is that they sell the KEY- the FSC code- for $300-400 retail.

But get this- and this is the best part- if you can HACK the code, or you can buy the code from European group that has hacked it, you are ACTUALLY NOT BREAKING A SINGLE LAW NOR LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH BMW. I can buy the code for US$96.

So you can screw BMW with there stupid system, AND not have to bend or break a single rule or law.

THAT'S priceless.
