retrofit DSP in E53

My E53 didnt come with DSP however my old E39 did.
I think my DSP amp in my E39 was philips? but i upgraded to a "lowe" DSP amp (i think that was the brand anyway)

however my E53 doesnt have DSP and i was looking at retrofitting it..

how easy/ hard of a job is it? on the e53 is it just the amp itself as i did see some images of a sub unit that i think its behind the right hand side storeage box in the boot.

can anyone else shed some light please...

most people are trying to get rid of the DSP, and you are trying to retrofit it? I think, there is some speaker wiring involved in addition to a module retrofit... not sure about it though...

when the DSP is part of the factory audio system, and the person wants to keep the stock system, it is just fine... but, when the person wants to go with aftermarket sound system, headunit, amp - the DSP presents additional challenge that is resolved by throwing more money into the system - you have to buy special adapters, your choice of aftermarket units is less...

I would be keeping everything stock

I have all options as I did in e39

Nav, television, telephone etc.
just no dsp

On the e53 is there also a built in sub or is it simply just
The rectangular dsp unit itself (I think these were
MAde by Phillips, Loewe and Lear)?

i do not see a dedicated sub amp for the subwoofer in the right rear pocket (right, as looking in direction of moving car sitting in car)... I have not looked to see if the sub assembly housed any additional electronics in addition to the speakers - it might have some additional amp in addition to the DSP amp...

so can dsp be retrofitted? would the correct wiring previsions already be in place (if car already has nav,tv,blurtooth etc)?

any help appreciated.

Resuscitating this old thread... has anyone retrofitted DSP in a non-DSP (with Navigation) X5?

The junkyard is full of X5 with DSP so getting the parts should not be too hard, although I am not sure what components are involved.

Thanks
