Upgraded from MK2 -> Mk4, Have a Couple Questions
1. When playing the radio on the old MK2 system, the top 1/3 of the screen would display the station, preset number, and a few other things. The bottom 2/3 of the screen would display OBC data. The MK4 system only displays the radio station on the top 1/3 of the screen and the rest is blank. I tried both the original 4:3 head unit and the 16:9 and both were the same. Is there a way to display the OBC data along with the radio station on the MK4? 2. In the Service menu, the MK4 system has the VIN from the X5, and displays "X5" for the model information. Is there a way to update that with the VIN and model for the car it's installed in now? |

I purchased an X5 nav for my E39 and if I recall correctly you have to update the nav to work in a different car. I can't remember if you can do it in INPA or have to use NCS Expert to re-code it. Someone will probably be along to confirm but I'll try and look up what I did

NavCoder did the trick for item #2. I still haven't figured out #1.

That feature (IIRC, BMW calls it the split screen OBC functions) was a function of the older software which ran on the MKI, MKII, and early releases of the MKIII software. The MK4 eschews the split OBC functions for the newer split screen view (map on left, directions on right.) That and the auto night mode are the two things that the MK4's software does not do.

So the feature I want has been removed from the software? nice.
