What does that look like? When I load the latest, should I see SW4-4/00?

I have done the software upgrade to v32. I now have the message at the top of the Settings Screen that says SW4-1/00. I am puzzled though, I do not have the ///M splash screen. I got the Perspective View turned on, and I have the 2015 maps on the way to my house.

How come I do not have the splash screen? When I get the new maps, will the software be on the disc(s), or are the software update and the map revisions separate things?

In my travels looking for nav screen fixes, I found that my X5 can have a female aux port added very easily. I have ordered the aux cable, it comes with a plate that says Aux on it to surround the hole that the jack fits into. Since I do not have the seat heaters, I thought I would mount the aux port on the panel where the seat heater switches would go, and if my drill doesn't go crazy on me, I should be able to do this without the plate that states the obvious. If I can follow directions, I understand that the aux jack being installed will turn on the feature that is hidden in the Mode Button.

My car apparently choked on a CD in the 6-disc changer, and the changer was removed from the vehicle. I'm not big on CDs, so I was wondering if there was an audio solution that I could put in and connects to the existing wiring.

the splashscreen is part of the firmware upgrade so you may have a firmware without a splash screen or something different, the only safe way to do it now is to downgrade your firmware to v29 or older then upgrade it back up to v32 but make sure you use a v32 with the correct splash screen you require.

now bare with me on the aux input as my vehicle is an early mk3 range rover but is essentially a e53 x5 under the skin, now from what i have read on forums etc aux input was enabled on later bm53/54 units i think from 2005 on, if you have an earlier unit aux can be enabled on bm54 via a firmware upgrade and the aux being fitted, you may however have a bm53 in your car and i don't know how you would go about it as i'm in uk and we only have bm54's over here, there are also 2 types of bm54 round pin and flat pin, only the flat pin can be aux enabled. we have a company here in the uk called carphonics that do several bm54 upgrades including aux in, bluetooth aux in, aux in via 30 pin ipod cable and aux out for seperate amplifiers it may be worth chatting with them if you do not have an aux enabled unit.

I have a damaged nav screen, and there's a new one on the way to my house. It looks easy enough to replace the screen, and while the unit is out of the car, I will be connecting an aux port (female) to the connector that is already in the car but is not being used. The connector is a flat, 3-pin, and should be all that I need to enable the aux mode -- if the videos on YouTube are correct. From what I am reading, I will have a 3.5mm female plug that I can plug my headphone jack of my android phone into. If this is true, then I will only need bluetooth for hands-free phone services. It should all be very seamless. I have the MK4 system, but this does not matter for the aux jack. I have a dead CD changer that gives me some capability that I do not fully appreciate, but I am learning that this capability might be leveraged on my E36 to give me more audio options than I have now.

I don't "require" any particular splash screen, I just expected the ///M screen to come up, but it does not. I have the 3D View and the screen says SW4-1/00, instead of SW4-1/50 when it had the v25 loaded. I'm not going to reload the firmware just to get the splash screen, unless firmware comes on the new map CDs.

Continuing the thread jack...
I ordered and received the 2015 version of the maps, and it included a 3rd CD with the firmware update to v.32 that has the ///M splash screen. Along with the disc set were printed instructions that work as written.

This should be the link to my purchase

Another thread jack here.

Last night I updated my E46 M3 MKIV firmware to V32. All went well. I know have perspective and new splash screen. When I insert the new 2015 High DVD 2 disk set that came with the upgraged firmware neither disk will load. the system says something like DVD not intereted.
At this point I put my old DVD map in and it works.

Any thoughts as to why the new DVD's are not working?

Simple, worn laser, replace the loading mechanism, cost is around £100 and its available from the dealer.

Since its the only moving part of the unit, it like getting a brand new unit, it quicker too.
