be thankful you don't live in california, it was close to $800/year for registering my '01 X5, they fund the CHP with car registrations. You can deduct part of it on your taxes, but it still sux.

Oh yeah, Mass is also a Commonwealth! Doh! Forgot to pile on with this: VA also zaps us with a $20 emissions test every other year, and then each county nails you for personal property taxes yearly.
